Deciding on a film and planning our swede.

After discussing different films and listing pro's and con's we decided to swede the popular horror film 'The Babadook'. As listed in the photo there are many pro's but we will need to consider and plan how we are going to recreate certain scenes, for example there are a lot of voice overs in the original trailer and as we mustn't use special effects this will be difficult to achieve. As well as voice overs there is constant background noise in the original trailer, we are able to use a piano to record similar music but we will need to figure out how to have that in the background as well as audio needed. The setting of our sweded film will most likely be based in one of the group members house as most of the scenes are inside, if not they can be recreated in a garden, this is a huge bonus as we can record a lot at once, especially if more than one scene can be recorded at once. One of the projects criteria points was "It must only be 2-8 minutes in length" the original trailer is only 2minuttes 24seconds so it is quite short.

Prop list;

We plan on using items of clothing such as dressing gowns, oversized hoodies and wigs to create our characters outfits.

Props we have include;
  • hammer
  • crossbow
  • car
  • bed
  • book
  • wardrobe
  • outfits

Character list;

The Babadook- We decided that I would be the Babadook as the film is meant to be humorous and I as a 5"3 girl am obviously the least obvious option.
The mum- We decided Josh Coe would be the main role as again I would be expected to be the mum, we also thought if Josh dressed up as the mum it would add to the films character and make it memorable.
The Son- Jack Grimshaw is going to be the son.
Old Woman- Matthew Levesley will be the old woman.

Extras;

Robbie-Matthew Levesley
Headteacher- Jack Grimshaw
Headteachers assistant- Niamh Gallagher
Doctor- Matty Levesley
